Today i finally was able to see Cinderella in the theaters, as most of you know i have been crazy busy with back to back productions, on top of running this company, and i spent my first production free week sick with a cold, so cinderella has had to wait. But let me tell you it was worth the wait. Every moment, every nuance, every detail was perfect. i would not have changed a thing, i was just so in love with their vision, and the message of the film. through out the film it is repeated " Have courage, and be kind." and what a beautiful message that is. Fairy tales were created as a way for people to reflect on their life, and learn valuable lessons, and Cinderella definitely has many lessons to teach us. To me the most important is kindness and love cost nothing and should be given freely. Through out the film Ella teaches us to be kind and generous and thoughtful even in situations that are hard because if you have a good heart someone will see it, and eventually your kindness and generosity will be rewarded. She also teaches us to never give up, and always be true to yourself even when it seems like there is no hope, if you follow your heart you will find hope. This particular message struck a cord with me, and has inspired me. It took me almost 8 years to have the courage to create this company, and put it out there into the universe that this was something i wanted to create. i had so many bumps along the way, a boyfriend who said it would never work, and would never be a worth while business, friends who thought i was being silly and wasting my money and time and energy that could be better spent focusing on something realistic, and many other doubters and nay sayers, but this year i chose to ignore all those voices, and make it happen. i have so many goals and dreams and ideas for this company and how i want it to grow. Even today during a short trip to disneyland i said to my friend, what would you do if someday i owned a park like this, and his response was nothing, because that will honestly never happen. i disagree, 8 years ago i had people tell me i could never make a living as a costume designer, 4 years ago i had people tell me i was wasting my time working in children's theatre, and now i am making a living costuming shows for high schools, children's theaters, and small professional theaters, i run my own entertainment company, i produce two concerts a year, and the possibilities are endless. There is nothing i can not do if i put my mind to it, and focus my time and energy towards a goal. please do not let others tell you who you are, and what you are capable of, you decide that. you decide what your dream is, and what your goals are and you make that happen. My promise to all of you, is that if you come to me with a dream, a goal, or a fantasy i will never tell you it is impossible because impossible things happen every day. instead i will ask you how i can help you achieve that goal, that dream, or that fantasy. i am going to continue to make my dream the best that i can, i am going to put my entire mind, body, and heart into making this company so fantastic, so one of a kind, that everyone will see what i see when they look at my dreams.

we loved these three disney bounds! it's always great to see different ways to be inspired by your favorite character! we hope next week we have even more submissions, if you have a disneybound you want to share with us you can send it to us on fb, or email it to us at [email protected] and we are gonna post our favorites every sat!
Bounding can easily become expensive, but one of the best ways to make bounding on a budget work is to find items that can be used for more then one bound. Just this week i bought a shirt i can use for Genie, and Dory. and the shorts i wear for Genie can also be used for Flounder. and the Shoes i bought can be used for all three. the pants i use for Dory are also the same pants i use for Prince eric, and the belt i use for Genie is used for Prince Eric, and Mickey Mouse. By finding items that i can use in different bounds it makes it easier and more effective to purchase them, sometimes you can always use items for multiple bounds, like for instance my Ariel bound is kinda only ariel, but the green shorts were 11.00 on sale, and the lavender shirt was only 8.00, so total the outfit was only about 20.00 when you add tax. i'd like to find some accessories but it isn't necessary to have a good bound. Try to break your bounding characters into color groups, by doing that it will make it easier for you to find items that can work for multiple bounds. right now i have been buying a lot of blue, so i've been trying to think of characters who could use blue items and so far ive come up with, genie, dory, flounder, scully, stitch, cinderella, elsa, and alice. now not all of these will have items that can be cross used, and each one needs different accessories and pieces in order to tie the look together but it gives me a good starting point. look at what you have, and look at how you can create different combination and you will find that it becomes easy to bound and stay within a budget. i find alot of good stuff for bounding at Target, Old Navy, JCP, and Forever 21. these stores all have what is reffered to as fast fashion, that means that they cycle through pieces quite a bit, and constantly get in new styles and inventory. they also constantly have sales so its easy to pick up several items at a good price. above are the main pieces for my Genie bound and here are some of the same pieces mixed with some new items to be dory. now a combination used for flounder! ariel for under 20.00 and here is my low budget but still stylish mickey!
Hopefully this helps you in making bounding not use up your whole pay check, be on the look out for pictures of me putting these bounds into action real soon :) check out this amazing Cinderella fan art! it reminds me of the old Disney golden books i used to read as a kid!
Today's Thankful Thursday is Sheila Kelly! She is truly a behind the scenes person we could not do with out. She is the house manager for all of our events, helps. With set up and clean up, she manages our raffle and helps to get some of the amazing items that we offer donated. She is also in charge of getting all of the ads for the program, and getting the program and flyers printed! Without her help and assistance we would not be able to pull off the caliber of events that we do, we are so lucky to have her as part of the team!
We are pretty obsessed with Monster High here at Second Star Entertainment. and if you have read this blog before then you know we love Hayden Williams. Obviously when we came across the two combined we were over the moon! We love his high fashion over the top concept of their traditional costumes. Each one is so perfect, my personal favorites are Lagoona and Gouhlia. I can def see these illustrations inspiring some future looks here at Second Star, are you ready for a few Monsters to invade Second Star?
